New Delhi, Sep 26 (UNI) Promising to abide by the law of the land while organising Ram Lila in the backdrop of recent bomb blasts in the city, Shri Ram Lila Committee patron and Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Jai Prakash Agarwal today said whatever the government guidelines would be, the committee would follow them.
Addressing a press conference here, Mr Agarwal said, ''The Ram Lila Committee would fully cooperate with the authorities''.
He said police and other security agencies would do their work as usual and whatever they ask the committee to do, it would abide by that.
''So far the committee has not received any direction in this regard from the government but if they tell it to windup the shows early it will do that,'' the Congress leader said.
''Very important leaders of our country, including Presidents, Prime Ministers and Cabinet Ministers, come and watch Ram Lila with us,'' he said adding that UPA Chairperson and Congress president Sonia Gandhi has been coming to Ram Lila Grounds for the past 30 years.
Talking about the special features of the Lila, he said the fireworks is simply the best.
''Last year Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Ms Gandhi sat all through the 40 minutes long fireworks,'' he said.
On being asked how the committee handles all those VVIPs, Mr Agarwal said, It's a religious progamme, whoever comes first gets the good seat.
Secretary General of the committee, Rajesh Khanna, speaking on the occasion said along with the fireworks 'Jhankian' (processions) of this year's Ram Lila would be the main attraction.
