Punjab Basketball League begins tomorrow

Chandigarh, Sep 26 (UNI) A galaxy of stars will be seen in action in the 18th Punjab Basketball League Championship for men and women, to be held at village Gure in Ludhiana district from September 27 to October 1.

Punjab Basketball Association General Secretary Teja Singh Dhaliwal disclosed that the annual league is conducted in memory of Arjuna awardee and Indian captain Gurdial Singh Bhaia.

Punjab Police Jalandhar, Border Security Force Jalandhar, Punjab State Electricity Board Patiala, Rail Coach Factory Kapurthala, DML Patiala and Rest of Punjab will compete in the men's section.

Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Kapurthala and Amritsar have staked their claim for top honours in the women's section.

Teams will play on round robin basis. A total 21 matches will be played (15 in the men section and six in women). Twelve technical officials have been deputed for the smooth conduct of the league.

Matches will be played in day as well as night.
