Nanded, Maharashtra, Sep 26 (UNI) Preparations for the tricentenary celebration of the Guru-Da-Gaddi, to mark the 300th year of conferring the status of Guru to the Shri Guru Granth Sahib by the tenth Guru of the Sikhs Guru Gobind Singh, are in full swing in the city.
Nearly one million devotees are expected to arrive in the city during the celebrations to be held from October 13 to November three.
The district administration has made preparations of boarding by acquiring 56 schools and colleges in the city and around. In addition, five special camps are being erected to accommodate at least five lakh devotees at the surrounding villages, including Mugat, Mudkhed, Pimpalgao and Nerali. Five thousand toilets have been made on the basis of Kumbha Mela at these camps.
To face any casualty, arrangement of 1,060 beds have been made at different hospitals. In addition to it a chain of 40 temporary hospitals, having capacity to treat 50,000 patients, are being erected. A facelift is also being given to the Nanded Railway station along with constructing a well furnished and lavish waiting room. The construction work of another railway station, in the North of the previous one, is being done on war footing and it will be ready by October 15.
To Propagate the importance and spiritual value of the celebration a campaign was launched during last year in which a Yatra pilgrimage of ''Guru Manijo Granth'' (the holy scripture should be accepted as Guru) was taken out on November 15,2007. Coming through Aurangabad, Nashik, Mumbai, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Chattisgarh, Bihar, Orissa, Punjab, Jammu, Himachal Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Goa and others states the Yatra reached the city on August 10. It was whole heartedly welcomed by the citizens by organizing a function. The preparations were initiated from 2002 it self.
The Gurudwara Takhat Sachkhand Shri Huzoor Sahib Abchal Nagar is one of the five 'Takhats'(seats of authority). It is also known as ''Dakhan Kashi'' of the Sikhs. The tenth Guru of the Sikhs Guru Gobind Singh came to Nanded during his mission to the South.
Before departing this world on November 3,1708, he conferred the status of the Guru to the Shri Granth Sahib and elevating it as the eternal Guru. To mark the event, on November three every year a celebration was organised.
The congregation will begin with the ''Takhat Snan'' of the Hoozur Sahib Gurudwara on October 27. It will be followed by the ''Deep Mala'' (a series of lamps), a procession carrying the Palakhi (palanquin) of the Guru Granth Sahib, Kirtan Darbar, Kathas and others. To accommodate almost one lakh devotees a pandal is being erected in the premises of Gobin Bag.
