Police prevents students from installing Bhagat Singh's bust
Hisar, Sep 26 (UNI) A group of agitating students today forcibly entered the Guru Jambeshwar University campus to forcibly instal the statue of Shaheed Bhagat Singh.
They clashed with the security staff and a rival faction opposing the move to instal the statue following which the university administration called in the police.
The police dragged and chased away the agitating students and the statue was removed before its installation.
Later, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Devendra Dayal Sandhu told newsmen, "Some outsiders, with the help of a few students, made an illegal attempt to install the statue without seeking the permission.'' ''We are not opposed to the statues of martyrs but there was some procedure for the same. Some persons collected donations and brought the statue on their own, which can not be allowed,'' he said.
The agitating students had staged a dharna yesterday demanding election of students union in the university and had announced to install the statue today.
