Nuke deal in India's interest: Amar
Rewa, MP, Sep 26 (UNI) Claiming the Indo-US nuclear deal to be beneficial for India, Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh today said,''that was the reason why, the SP rose above differences and supported the Congress on the issue.'' While addressing a SP workers' 'Mahasammelan' in Vindhya region, Mr Singh praised Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh but criticised an alleged statement -- of Congress spokesman Satyavrat Chaturvedi and Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh -- that a Congress-SP alliance could be ''suicidal'' in Madhya Pradesh.
''The SP -- which speaks of national and public interest -- will give a fitting reply to the Congress leaders' statement by breaking that party's Uttar Pradesh unit,'' he said.
Four SP MLAs recently quit the party in Madhya Pradesh and were likely to join the Congress.
Mentioning that Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee president Suresh Pachouri sought the SP's assistance during the Rajya Sabha elections, Mr Singh fired a broadside at Bharatiya Janata Party leaders.
Speaking on the occasion, SP state president Narayan Tripathy slammed the Madhya Pradesh regime's ''anti-people policies''.
