Indian skipper Dhoni now needs a pistol
Ranchi, Sep 26: Mahendra Singh Dhoni, India's one-day Captain says there's a threat to his life and needs a pistol for self-protection. At present he has a non-prohibited gun license and 'z' category security, besides all-women police ring to keep his girl-fans at a distance whenever he lands in Maoist-infested Jharkhand.
Not satisfied with his revolver and already stout security, Dhoni has now applied for a pistol license. And the 9mm 'prohibited-bore' gun Dhoni wants is so powerful that its heavily restricted. "Dhoni has applied for a 9mm pistol. The bore of this gun is very restricted," says Manoj Kumar, the Sub Divisional Officer (SDO), Ranchi. His application is pending with the sub-divisional officer (sadar) from Sep 16, but held up following a change of Deputy Commissioners Ranchi district, a senior police officer said in Ranchi on Thursday, Sep 25. If his aides are to be believed, a threat from Naxals is what made Dhoni to apply for pistol. Dhoni's application can be approved only by the Union Home Ministry.
