Fake currency worth Rs 7.5 lakh seized; 3 held
Lucknow, Sep 26 (UNI) The Anti-terrorist Squad (ATS) of Uttar Pradesh police today arrested three people for possessing fake Indian currency worth Rs 7.5 lakh in Meerut today.
Additional Director General of Police (law and order) Brijlal said here that ATS (west zone) nailed down Riyasat, Akhlaq and Adil near Meerut bypass and seized couterfiet currency, having face value of Rs 7.5 lakh, from them. Three mobile phones and a four wheeler were also recovered from their possession.
During the interrogation, Riyasat and Akhlaq admitted that they were in the business of fake currency for the last eight years, Mr Brijlal added.
They also divulged that these fake currencies were being provided to them by an agent of Pakistan.
Both the criminals were also arrested earlier for possessing fake currency, the police informed.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered at Kankarkhera police station in Meerut.
