Hyderabad, Sep 26 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today decided to hand over the responsibility of completing the entire canal works related to projects to Irrigation Department.
According to a release here, the Chief Minister said lift and micro-irrigation were necessary for effective water supply.
Lift irrigation through Pulivendula Branch Canal and Lingala Canal would irrigate two lakh acre, he said adding coordination between irrigation, power, revenue, agriculture and horticulture Departments were necessary to make it a success.
The Chief Minister said micro irrigation would have 90 per cent subsidy to all farmers without any conditions. This project would help the farmers, particularly of drought-prone and rain-shadow areas of the State.
Pilot projects were taken up in this regard at three locations in Kadapa, Inagalur in Thondur Mandal, Anakalammagudur in Simhadripuram Mandal and Pendlur in Vempalli Mandal.
