Chandigarh, Sep 26 (UNI) Air India overpowered Oil India limited (OIL) 3-2 in a thrilling final to retain their men's team title of the All-India Public Sector Table Tennis Tournament here late last night.
However, in the women section, OIL won the team's title blanking Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) 3-0.
In the men's team final, tenth ranked Sanil Shetty gave Air India a winning start as he rallied to beat Devesh Karia 8-11, 11-6, 11-1, 5-11, 14-12.
Subhajit Saha drew parity for OIL defeating, Pathik Mehta 11-8, 11-9, 11-9.
However, Air India took 2-1 lead as Aniket Koparkar outpointed Anal Kashyap 11-9, 13-15, 10-12, 11-4, 11-4.
Subhajit Saha again came to the rescue of OIL overpowering Sanil Shetty 3-11, 11-6, 8-11, 9-11 to make it 2-2.
In the crucial fifth tie, Pathik Mehta, prevailed over Devesh Karia 11-7,8-11, 9-11, 11-8, 11-8 and helped Air India to retain the trophy.
