Madikeri, Sep 26(UNI) Some farmers in Kodagu district have approached Karnataka High Court seeking direction to the District Co-operative Credit Bank (DCC) to extend Centre's loan waiver scheme for the loan they have availed to build houses under Vidharbha Package.
The farmers in their petition have charged that DCC bank Kodagu, on the direction of NABARD and Apex Bank has refused to waive-off the loan they have availed to construct houses, which was allowed under Union Government's Vidharbha Package.
The farmers have stated that the commercial banks have waived off loan interest due from farmers under Central Government's farmers loan waiver scheme however DCC Bank is not following suit for the beneficiaries of Vidharbha Package.
NABARD and Apex banks are insisting that the loan they have provided to farmers was for construction of houses and it dose not come under the purvew of the Vidharbha package.
Total loan availed by the petitioners was amounts to Rs 2.07 crores and all waiting for the court verdict to repay it.
