27 Ayurveda colleges in K'taka lack staff: Vice-Chancellor
Mysore, Sep 26 (UNI) Timely intervention by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) saved 27 Ayurveda colleges in Karnataka, which were on the verge of closure due to lack of adequate staff, Varsity Vice-Chancellor S Ramananda Shetty said today.
Speaking after inaugurating a three-day state-level conference of Ayurveda colleges in the state, he said the sorry state of affairs came to light at a recent Syndicate meeting in which a proposal to derecognise these colleges were raised.
''However, the proposal was dropped on humanitarian grounds due to my initiation as the fate of 1,947 students studying in these colleges were at stake,'' he added.
Dr Shetty called upon the students to show interest in Ayurveda studies.
