Lucknow, Sep 25 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh government today setup a high powered committee headed by Principal Secretary (Home) for solve the problems of soldiers on time.
Addressing the Civil-Military Liaison conference at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Bhawan here, Ms Mayawati said all the problems of the soldiers would be solved in a time-bound manner. The Principal Secretary (Home) would head a high-powered committee with the Principal Secretary (Information) Vijay Shanker Pandey and Principal Secretary to CM J N Chamber as its members on behalf of the state government, while two army officers would also be its members.
The committee would ensure quick disposal of soldiers' problems.
The meeting of this committee would be held every month, she added.
The state government has decided to increase the lump sum payment to the soldiers under the Veer Chakra and Ashok Chakra series manifolds. According to it, the amount payable to the Paramveer Chakra winners under the Veer Chakra series has been increased from Rs two lakh to Rs 25 lakh, Mahaveer Chakra from Rs 1.25 lakh to Rs 15 lakh, Veer Chakra from Rs 57,500 to Rs 10 lakh, Sarvottam Yuddha Seva Medal (SYSM) from Rs 1.25 lakh to Rs 1.5 lakh, Uttam Yuddha Seva Medal (UYSM) from Rs 75,000 to Rs 1.25 lakh, Yuddha Seva Medal (YSM) from 35,000 to Rs 40,000, Sena Medal from Rs 3,000 to Rs 30,000 and the amount payable under the 'mention in dispatch' had been increased from Rs 2,000 to Rs 25,000.
Likewise, the lump sum payment to the Ashok Chakra winners under the Ashok Chakra series has been increased from Rs 40,000 to Rs 25 lakh, for Kirtyi Chakra winners from Rs 25,000 to Rs 15 lakh and for Shaurya Chakara winners from Rs 10,000 to Rs 10 lakh.
Besides, the amount payable to the winnes of the Paramveer Chakra has been increased to Rs 1.5 lakh from Rs 1000, for Mahaveer Chakra winners from Rs 400 to Rs 1.14 lakh, for Veer Chakra from Rs 300 to Rs 66,000 , for SYSM winners from Rs 150 to Rs 6,000, for UYSM from Rs 100 earlier to Rs 5,000 for YSM from 100 to Rs 4000, for Sena Medal from Rs 100 to Rs 4,800 and for 'mention in dispatch' the amount from Rs 50 earlier to Rs 3,000.
Likewise, decision has also been taken to increase the annual amount payable to the Ashok Chakra winners from Rs 400 to Rs 1.20 lakh, for Kiriti Chakra winners from Rs 300 to one lakh and for Shaourya Chakra from Rs 200 to Rs 50,000.
The UP government has also decided to provide one-time economic assistance of Rs 50,000 to the widows of the martyrs in the pre-Kargil war.
Moreover, decision to set up Zila Sainik Bandhu has also been taken for solving soliders' problems on priority basis. She further said the state government has decided to contribute Rs one crore in the Uttar Pradesh Soliders' Rehabilitation Fund for various welfare schems being carried out for the ex-servicemen and their dependents. The ex-servicemen would also be employed for the protection of historical buildings and monuments to provide them re-employment, the CM added.
She further directed the officers to adopt a constructive approach towards the problems of the soliers and ensure time bound implementation of decisions taken at this meeting.
