UP govt arranges bearer cheques to flood victims
Lucknow, Sep 25 (UNI) For early assistance to the flood victims, Uttar Pradesh Irrigation Minsiter Naseemuddin Siddiqui today said arrangements for payment of up to Rs 2,000 have been made through bearer cheques.
After taking stock of the situation in flood-hit Ambedkarnagar district, Mr Siddiqui met the affected people and distributed cheques to the needy.
Now, payment up to Rs 2,000 would be made through a bearer cheque, he informed, saying every possible help would be provided by the state government.
The minister also met senior officials of the Irrigation department and asked them to take the flood victims to safer confines.
Besides, he asked the officers to ensure proper distribution of food and medicines and maintain a vigil upon the condition of the dams.
