UK defence ministry apologises to Lesbian soldier
London, Sept.25 : The British Defence Ministry has finally apologised to a lesbian soldier over sexual harassment she suffered from a sergeant.
Lance Bombardier Kerry Fletcher, 32, is demanding 400,000 pounds as compensation for stress, hurt feelings and lost earnings, reports The Sun. The soldier, with 12 years service, claimed the MoD had yet to say sorry.
But a barrister yesterday told a tribunal: "I do, on behalf of the MoD, offer an apology that led to your findings."
A married staff sergeant with the Royal Artillery in North Yorks begged Fletcher, of Birmingham, for a threesome, bragged about his size and sent lewd texts. The tribunal in Leeds will give its judgment on damages within 28 days.
