Philips ATC to adopt Tektronix HDMI compliance test solutions
Bangalore, Sep 25(UNI) Tektronix Inc, a leading global provider of test, measurement and monitoring products, solutions and services for the communications, computer and semiconductor industries, today announced that Philips has adopted the Tektronix HDMI Compliance Test Solutions in its Authoraised Testing Center (ATC) in the city.
Talking to newspersons here Mr Jelle Rieske, Sr Director, Consumer Lifestyle, Philips innovation campus said the HDMI enabled equipment was likely to reach 772.8 million units by 2012 from 193 million in 1997.
He said the adoption of HDMI, a high-speed serial data interface between any audio and video source including a set-top box and DVD player, was increasing at a fast pace and India was expected to have a significant share of this market as it is among the largest markets in the world for consumer and digital eletronics.
Stating that high quality test, measurement instruments and solutions are fundamental to ensure compliance with the HDMI test specification he said ''HDMI is poised to play a bigger role in the days to come. The adoption of the Tektronix HDMI 1.3b1 compliance test solution for the ATC gives us a comprehensive and up-to-date HDMI test environment to help us shorten the time-to-market of HDMI compliant products'' he said.
Mr Vasudev, Marketing manager Tektronix who also spoke on the occasion said his company saw HDMI fast catching up in India and it has place in an integrated strategy to tap into this growing market.
''In India HDMI is one of the key markets identified by Tektronix both to showcase its technology leadership and penetrate from a sales perspective''.
He said besides Philips, other market leaders who have adopted Tektronix for HDMI compliance testing, the only industry-supported uncompressed, all-digital audio-video interface, are Sony, Silicon Imge and Panasonic.
