Chennai, Sep 25 (UNI) In the backdrop of this teeming metropolis becoming a hub for Ornamental Fish industry with the availability of several varieties of fish and aquarium accessories at affordable prices, the Chennai Aqua Show-2008 would be held here from October 1 to 5.
Organised by the Chennai Aquarium Development and Traders Association (CADTA), the Aqua show is aimed at taking ornamental fish trade to new heights and developing breeding techniques, display systems and accessories.
Besides providing the much needed support to the entrepreneurs in Tamil Nadu to increase the ornamental fish trade, the objective of the show is also to encourage Hobbyists, Breeders and Entrepreneurs, B Selvaraj, CADTA President and Secretary G M S Zaman told reporters here today.
''Chennai is the 'hub' of ornamental fish industry and it has the highest number of farms and aquariums offering varieties of live fish at affordable prices. Since major traders, importers and breeders are located here, new arrivals and launches always take place at Chennai ''he said.
The Expo would not only provide a forum for exchange of views and interaction with ornamental fish breeders and traders but also induce all the shopkeepers in India to source their requirements in bulk from Chennai on a regular basis .
The show would feature over 100 stalls and is expected to attract more than 1.5 lakh visitors, both from India and abroad.
''One of the salient features of this event woul be the display of more than 500 varieties of Ornamental and Vaasthu fishes, besides aquarium accessories.
