New Delhi, Sep 25 (UNI) The government today said it has no plans to review the administered price mechanism (APM) for gas in the near future.
''Not yet... The first thing is to improve supply, then once it becomes a supplier's market, price can find its own balance,'' Petroleum Secretary R S Pandey told reporters on the sidelines of a function here.
He said currently, the country is facing gas deficit and gas pricing is a difficult area as differential prices are based not just on the category of consumers but also the category of producers.
''We can move to competitive market prices only when supplies are augmented,'' he said.
However, he said, the government can look at competitive prices based on carbon content in the context of global warming.
