More than 80 Lakh families issued BPL cards in Karnataka: Minister
Gulbarga, Sept 25 (UNI) Karnataka Minister for Food and Civil Supplies H Halappa today said that more than 80 lakh families of Below Poverty Line had been issued ration cards in the state.
Addressing a press conference, he said that the government had received 1.24 crore applications, of which 80 lakh were found eligible for issuing ration cards.
He said that the centre is extending sybsidy for 32 lakh cards and the state government is bearing the rest.
Mr Halappa said that in Gulbarga district about 60,000 ration cards for BPL families had been issued in the district. He assured that all eligible families would be given ration cards.
