New York, Sep 25: Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh met Republican Vice-Presidential nominee Sarah Palin in New York on Thursday, Sep 25. McCain, who was scheduled to meet Manmohan Singh at Hotel New York Palace Wednesday, Sep 24 evening, failed to show up due to his preoccupation with the unprecedented financial crisis that has gripped the US.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the ongoing UN General Assembly session in New York. Palin, who is said to be having less foreign affairs experience as compared to her Democrat rival Joe Biden, is also scheduled to meet other world leaders, including the Presidents of Iraq and Georgia.
On Tuesday, Sep 23 Palin met Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai and Colombian President Alvaro Uribe and discussed with them the ongoing crises in their countries. She also met former US Secretary of State Henry A Kissinger.
Palin, faces a debate on Thursday, Oct 2 in St Louis with Biden, a veteran senator from Delaware, who is chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
