Chandigarh, Sep 25 (UNI) The Haryana government has decided to provide insurance cover of Rs 75,000 to the workers of unorganised sector and its premium would be paid by the Labour Welfare Board constituted by the state government.
This was stated by Haryana Labour and Employment Minister A C Choudhary while speaking at a workshop organised for workers engaged in building and other construction works at Manesar today.
He said the workers would not have to pay even a penny to avail this facility of insurance cover.
He pointed out that industrialisation was, no doubt, basis of development of the state but there was nothing precious than the human life. He said the workers of the organised sector could be considered secure to a larger extent because of factory laws and other provisions but now the government considered the workers of unorganised sector equally important.
It is for the first time that a Labour Welfare Board had been constituted in Haryana and the state government had enhanced the minimum wages and implemented many schemes for their welfare, the minister added.
