Shillong, Sep 25: In a fresh email threat Indian Mujahideen threatened to kill senior BJP leader L K Advani during his scheduled visit to Shillong on Sep 29. The email, written in incohesive English, was dispatched to 'The Shillong Times' and 'Mawphor' (local dailies) newspaper houses on Wednesday, Sep 24 night sending the entire police machinery nervous.

Signed by self-styled North-East Field Commander of IM, Ali Hussain Badr, the email said Advani's 'Hindutva demand has pushed India into a fascist mould'. In the email he claims that IM's 'sucide squad' has set foot in the state to kill Advani during his Sangalp Yatra. The e-mail also said, ''Advani has always tried to portray the Muslims and Christians as inveterate enemies of the Hindus.'' Meanwhile, HS Syiemlieh the state BJP president said the scheduled visit of Mr Advani was on and party workers were gearing up for the occasion. ''As of now we have received no communication from our party head office in New Delhi and so the visit is on,'' he stated.

''We have heard about the email and we are pretty confident that security measures would be taken care of by the concerned district authorities,'' Mr Syiemlieh added. The party workers are also instructed to be 'extra vigilant' in view of the threat. ''We are not taking any chances,'' he said.

Meghalaya Chief minister Donkupar Roy held a high-level meeting with senior police officials. Police visited a newspaper house where the email was sent and analysed it. "We can't say anything now, we are trying to trace the IP address," a senior police official told, adding that prime facie it appeared that the email was sent from Shillong itself.
