Vijayawada, Sep 25 (UNI) A seven-member Indian beach kabaddi team, including two players from Andhra Pradesh would take part in the world traditional games to be held at Busan (South Korea) from September 29 to October 2.
Indian Beach Kabaddi Association Secretary K P Rao said here today as many as 10 countries would be taking part in the event.
The beach kabaddi was started officially in 2003 at Visakhapatnam and so far three national teams have taken part in three international test matches held in Thailand, Singapur and Malaysia, he said.
Mr Rao said this was the first time that the association was sending a team to the world level game.
The members of the world Beach Kabaddi Federation and Asian Beach Kabaddi Federation would be attending a general body meeting at Busan where the calender for the forthcoming years would be formalised, he said and added efforts would be made to include beach kabaddi in the 2020 olympics.
Panjab's Harpal Singh, Chandigarh's Shamsher Singh, Uttaranchal's Harsha Kumar, Delhi's Krishan Kumar, Andhra Pradesh's S K Ranga Rao and UP's Danveer Singh form the team, he added.
