Jammu, Sep 25 (UNI) Seeking cooperation from the people, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Zone today said people are the third eye of the police and they not only help in identifying suspicious elements but also are genuine advisors in framing various policies.
''Launch an awareness campaign regarding presence and movement of suspicious elements in and around the holy town, as religious places are the soft targets of anti-social elements,'' K Rajindera, IGP Jammu told police officers at a meeting at Katra.
The meeting was organised to review security scenario and to discuss necessary steps for smooth ten-day long Navratri festival to be celebrated at Katra in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Mr Rajindera directed all the concerned authorities to initiate required measures to make the event a harmonious by providing all type of facilities to the visiting pilgrims.
''The government is planning to install CCTVs at all vital points in the holy town to track down the suspicious movements,'' the IGP said and also asked the hotel owners to install such cameras in their hotels so that vigil can be rept on the activities of people who check in and check out.
