CPI protests over price rise, N-Deal across UP
Lucknow, Sep 25 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (CPI) today held demonstrations across Uttar Pradesh demanding early commencement of Parliament session over important issues like nuclear deal, price hike and terrorism.
CPI state unit secretary Dr Girish said the protest was called by the Left parties over their demands that included a check on shooting prices of essential commodities, terrorism and cancellation of Indo-US Nuke Deal.
Denouncing the central government for its lackadaiscial attitude towards the grim flood situation, rising terrorist moves and prices, the CPI leader said the government should call the Parliament session soon.
During the protest, Prime Minister Dr Manhoman Singh was burnt in effigy at various places. The office of district magistrates were 'gheraoed' and memorandum addressing to President Ms Pratibha Devisingh Patil handed over.
