Court reserves order on Dawood's brother-in-law's bail plea
Mumbai, Sep 25 (UNI) A Sessions Court at Sewri today reserved its order till tomorrow, on an anticipatory bail plea moved by underworld don Dawood Ibrahim's brother-in-law Zanzeb Khan alias Guddu Pathan.
He was involved in an assault on a police informer at Shivaji Park, Dadar in Central Mumbai last month.
The arguments on the plea concluded today before the Sessions Judge A Wahule, who also noted the point raised by the advocate of the complainant that Pathan was not present during the hearing of the plea despite the previous judicial directive that he was required to be present in the court.
While moving the plea, Advocate Pradhan, representing Pathan, argued that his client was falsely implicated in the case and he had nothing to do with the alleged offence.
He told the court that his client was not present in the court as he was taking part in the prayer organised for the holy Ramzan month.
According to the prosecution, on August 4, four assailants, allegedly including Pathan, attacked and stabbed the police informer Patel and his friend Machchiwala with knives in their back and stomach, while they were passing from the Senapati Bapat Marg.
Patel sustained injuries, while Machchhiwala is currently fighting for life in King Edward Memorial Hospital at Parel in Central Mumbai.
Pathan and his associates allegedly attacked Patel as they believed that he had informed the police about their activities, the prosecution said.
Patel had played a vital role in solving a corruption case involving crime branch officers, Dawood's sister Haseena Parker and two builders.
