Two militants killed, four surrender in Tripura
Agartala, Sep 24 (UNI) At least two militants of proscribed National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) were killed and four including two cadres of Bru National Council of Tripura (BNCT) surrendered with arms in the state during past 24 hours.
Police today said they recovered two Self Loading Rifles (SLR), four magazines, 149 rounds of 7.62 ammunitions, six live cartridges, two bags, one olive green colour dress with shoes, 35 collection pad of NLFT and some incriminating literature from the slain militants.
According to report, TSR 4th battalion personnel had launched operations at Hamlaiya Para in North Tripura, close to Mizoram border yesterday.
When a group of NLFT extremists opened fire from a Jhum hut on the top of the hill upon them from their hideout, TSR retaliated killing two of them on the spot.
They were identified as Rajiv Debbarma (20) and Jowai Aslong (19) who had been working for NLFT, police informed.
Meanwhile, three NLFT extremists - Bidhu Debbarma (21), Milijoy Reang (26) and Rengamani Reang (26) had surrendered with arms last night.
Yesterday morning one BNCT extremists identified as Rabi Kalai (22) of South Tripura had surrendered without arms before Coy Commander of 60th battalion CRPF at Thalibari camp, police added.
