Lucknow, Sep 24 (UNI) Samajwadi Party today charged the Bahujan Samaj Party government in Uttar Pradesh for neglecting the relief and rescue work in the flood affected districts.
SP President Mulayam Singh Yadav today visited several flood hit areas, including Barabanki, Lakhimpur, Pilibhit, Gonda, Sitapur and Shahjahanpur districts, where people alleged that no relief or rescue work has been taken up by the government.
Later, talking to media, the state SP working president Shivpal Singh Yadav said million of flood affected people were on the verge of starvation of which several hundreds have died and thousands were ill.
Mr Yadav said no relief or rescue works were done in the disaster affected areas, while on the other hand the funds given for the flood relief works were being siphoned off by the officials.
The SP leader also lambasted the state governemnt for hike in the rate of tax structure of several commodities and alleged that it will lead to inflation in essential commodities in the state.
