Amritsar, Sep 23 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party MP and noted humourist Navjot Singh Siddhu today while ''welcoming'' Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's gesture to visit Punjab, quipped that Punjab would have welcomed ''a more open and large-hearted'' visit.
Commenting upon Congress General Secretary's ''motivational'' visit to Punjab to strengthen Youth Congress, Mr Siddhu said, ''all political leaders come to Punjab with an open or hidden political agenda but Punjabis prefer people who are open about their objectives''.
In a statement issued regarding the three-day Punjab visit of Mr Rahul Gandhi, which ended today, Mr Siddhu said everybody paid obeisance at the Golden Temple here and everybody's welfare was taken care of there.
He, however, added that Punjab was in dire need of fast clearance of a number of development project waiting for Centre's clearance and noted that for Punjab Mr Gandhi's visit would indeed be fruitful, if it could hastened the process.
