TN: BONC organises exhibition on reptiles
Tiruchirapalli, Sep 24: The city-based Barn Owl Nature Club (BONC) will organise a three-day exhibition on reptiles on Thursday, Oct 2 to commemorate the Wild Life Week, Club Director B Venkataramani said.
In a release here today, he said the primary aim of the tenth Thematic exhibition of BONC was to create awareness about the richness and diversity of nature and the need to conserve environment and the habitat.
The Four orders of reptiles, namely, turtles/tortoises, lizards and snakes, crocodiles/alligators and tuatara, would be covered in the exhibition, Dr Venkataramani, former head of Analytical Chemistry Division Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai, said.
Though large amount of interesting and fascinating information were available, only those that have immediate appeal would be presented in the exhibition.
The exhibition would provide information about the species existing in India, particularly the East Coast, which is one of the five mass nesting sites for Olive Ridlley turtles in the world, he added.
The exhibits would be in the form of information sheets with colourful pictures, illustrations and drawings. More than 150 charts and photographs would be on display, he added.
