Kathmandu, Sep 24: Nepal Prime Minster Prachanda met US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Richard Boucher in New York on Wednesday, Sep 24.
During the meeting, Boucher assured of continued bilateral assistance to Nepal. Prachanda informed him on commitment of present government towards sustained peace, democracy and human rights in the country. Prachanda also met Sheikh Hamid Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Amir of Qatar. The two leaders discussed the issues of bilateral and multilateral interest of both countries. Prachanda requested Qatar's investment in Nepal and to expand possibilities of Nepali labour market in Qatar.
Similarly, Prachanda met First Vice President of the Council of State of Cuba Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, and Prime Minister of Mongolia Bayar Sanj, Russian Foreign Minister and leader of Russian delegation Sergey Lavarov.
He attended a reception hosted by UN Secretary General Ban-Ki-Moon in honour of the leaders of the delegations.
Prachanda instructed the Nepali mission to the UN to work with enhanced level of commitment in order to convey the message of historic change that took place in Nepal to the outside world.
Prachanda also attended a reception hosted by US President George W. Bush and Laura Bush on the ocassion of the sixty-third session of United Nations General Assembly in New York on Monday.
During the brief meeting, Bush assured Prachanda that Washington will continue its cooperation for Nepal's political transformation, Nepalnews reported.
