Police burst teargas in Srinagar to disperse demonstrators
Srinagar, Sep 24 (UNI) Police today burst teargas shells and resorted to lathicharge to disperse demonstrators near here this afternoon.
The trouble started when a group of youths, protesting against the grenade attack on the house of Jamiat-ul-Ahali Hadees president Moulana Showkat Ahmad at Lal Bazar last evening, tried to march towards Budshah Chowk from Maisuma, the headquarter of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) this afternoon.
When police and CRPF personnel stopped them, they pelted stones.
Security forces resorted to lathicharge and also burst teargas shells to disperse the demonstrators, raising pro-freedom slogans.
About half a dozen people received minor injuries in the stone pelting and police action.
