Washington, Sept 24 : Troubled popstar Pete Doherty has an unknown intelligent side to him - he was a brilliant chess champion in school.
The Babyshambles singer, who has battled drug addiction, was pretty good at dancing and playing soccer.
"I remember him being an incredible dancer and really good at chess and football (soccer). My mate's still got one of his QPR football scarves," Contactmusic quoted ex-classmate Emily Baker, as saying.
"At school he was a bit cheeky and always took things too far," she added.
Back in school, the rocker was also known for his obsession with London soccer team Queens Park Rangers.
