PCB to allocate 10 per cent budget to other sports

By Staff

Lahore, Sep 24 (UNI) In a bid to promote other games, the richest sports body in the country, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will allocate its 10 per cent budget to other sports.

''This decision is being taken to revive the sagging fortune of the games in the country and we will be reaching a decision soon in this regard with the mutual consent of provincial sports ministries,'' said Federal Sports Secretary, Ashraf Khan here today.

He said it will be a good step to provide financial assistance to other sports which are financially hit and need patronage.

When asked how much amount hockey will be receiving as it is the national sport which had gone down to its lowest level in recent years and requires huge funds to lift it out of gloom, he said, ''Of course hockey will also be receiving its share but there are other games as well which badly need attention.'' ''We are working on a plan to strengthen our sports system and we are confident that through our remedial measures sports will be having a better tomorrow in years to come,'' he added.
