Narmada Mahotsav from October 13
Jabalpur, Sep 24: The three-day Narmada Mahotsav is set to be organised at famous tourist spot Bheraghat on the bank of Narmada river under the joint auspices of the district administration and the Culture Department from October 13.
Divisional Commissioner Prabhat Parashar presided over a meeting that was held to review preparations of the Mahotsav on Monday.
Mayor Sushila Singh, Collector Hariranjan Rao and Municipal Commissioner Sukhbir Singh along with other dignitaries took part in the meeting.
Besides cultural programmes, other programmes were also planned.
''Efforts are being made to make the event famous akin to Khajuraho Utsav and directives have been issued for wide spread publicity of the event,'' said Mr Parashar.
Local talents would also be given an opportunity in the event and a committee would select them.
''Local artiste will give their performance for an hour daily,'' Mr Rao said, adding that the colourful folk dance would also be presented to beautify the event.
Suggestions towards food festival, craft fair and other programmes will be considered in the next meeting.
