Moga, Sep 24 (UNI) The body of a middle-aged NRI, who had been missing for last few days, was found floating in Sidhwan Canal near Kaila village in the district, police today said.
The NRI, Basant Singh, a native of Jalalabad East under Dharamkot police station, had arrived here last week to meet his relatives and was reported kidnapped from Jagraon Dhaba.
Dharamkot police immediately rushed to the canal and took out the body, which was sent to Moga Civil Hospital late in the evening last night for post mortem.
According to Moga police the deceased Basant Singh had arrived here on September 15 and after staying for few days at Ludhiana, he planned to visit his sister in Malik village on September 20.
along with his nephew Kuljinder Singh.
However, when the two did turn up at Malik village and could not be traced either, his relatives lodged a report with Jagraon police regarding their abduction.
Police said Moga and Jagraon police have jointly launched a search to nab those responsible for kidnapping and murder of Basant Singh and also launched a search for Kuljinder Singh.
