Dehri-On-Sone, Sept 24(UNI) In a major breakthrough police today recovered 70 Kg of detonators and landmines following an encounter with the Maoists in Dhansa valley of Kaimur hills in Rohtas district.
Police Superintendent Vikas Vaibhav said here that a police team rushed to the valley area following an information that Maoists were celebrating their establishment day. On seeing the police team, the maoists fired at them and the encounter continued for over two hours.
He said the extremists, however, managed to escape from the spot.
Later, the police recovered landmines of 50, 30 and 20 kg planted on the roads of Dhansa valley. Detonators were also recovered from the spot.
Mr Vaibhav said a massive manhunt had been launched to nab the extremists and separate teams of STF, CRPF and the district police were conducting raids.
The SP said he had requested his counterpart in Garhwa district of the adjoining Jharkhand to cooperate in nabbing the extremists.
The Uttar Pradesh police had also been requested to assist in the search operation.
