Glass casing of St Antony's statue found smashed
Alppuzha, Kerala, Sep 24 (UNI) In yet another act of vandalism at a place of worship in Kerala, the glass case around a statue in front of St Antony's Church at Purakkad, about 20 km from here, was found damaged today.
The glass case was found smashed by the devout who came for the morning prayers.
Following this, people in the area held a protest march. Alappuzha District Collector V K Balakrishnan and SP Nagaraju rushed to the spot.
Police suspect it to be the work of some anti-social elements trying to disturb the peace in the area. No arrests had been made so far.
A strong posse of police force had been deployed around the place of worship.
Last week, two place of worships were found vandalised at Nedumbaserry near Kochi.
