Food credit up among commercial banks

Mumbai, Sep 24 (UNI) Food credit provided by scheduled commercial banks shot up to Rs 45,190 crore on September 12 as against Rs 44,343.25 crore the previous fortnight.

According to the data released by the RBI today, food credit as on September 14, 2007 was Rs 38,170 crore.

The food credit offered by state cooeprative banks remained unchanged at Rs 3,405 crore on September 12. However, it was Rs 500 crore more when compared to the corresponding period last year, which was at Rs 2,905 crore.
