Eight killed, 22 injured in two road mishaps in south Bihar
Patna, Sep 24 (UNI) At least eight people were killed and 22 injured most of them critically, in two road mishaps in south Bihar's Rohtas and Begusarai districts today, police said.
They said in the first instance a speeding vehicle dashed against a stationary truck from behind on NH 31 near Sanghoul in Begusarai district early today killing four passengers on the spot and injuring 12 others.
All the injured were rushed to a nearby hospital where the condition of five was stated to be critical, sources said adding the mishap occurred after the driver of the ill-fated jeep lost control.
In the other incident four more people were killed and ten injured when a potato laden truck overtunred on Dehri-Jadunathpur road near Dehri-on-Sone in Rohtas district this morning.Among the deceased were the truck driver and his helper.
As the condition of some of the injured deteriorated they were admitted to a nearby health centre, the police said adding that bad road condition was believed to be the reason behind the accident.
Local villagers protesting against frequent accidents in the area blocked the road which was later lifted following assurance from the district administration.
