Baggy-green brigade get down to action in India

By Staff

Jaipur, Sep 24 (UNI) World champion Australia will train for the first time on their tour of India today to begin the process of sorting out the best XI for the next month's first Test in Bangalore.

The afternoon session at the Rajasthan Academy Ground here will be the first chance for the likes of Bryce McGain, Jason Krejza, Doug Bollinger, Peter Siddle, Shane Watson and Simon Katich to impress selectors.

The opening batsman Matthew Hayden, meanwhile, will be keen to show he is over the Achilles problem that prematurely scuttled his West Indies tour earlier this year and interrupted his lead-up to the Indian trip.

The BCCI last night named a strong Board President's squad for the Australians' four-day warm-up match in Hyderabad, naming a handful of sometime internationals including captain Yuvraj Singh, Shantha Sreesanth, Wasim Jaffer, Irfan Pathan and Piyush Chawla.

President XI squad: Yuvraj Singh (captain), Subramaniam Badrinath, Wasim Jaffer, Aakash Chopra, Rohit Sharma, Parthiv Patel, Irfan Pathan, Shantha Sreesanth, Piyush Chawla, Pragyan Ojha, Pankaj Singh, Manpreet Gony, Yogesh Takawale, Rakesh Dhurv.
