Attacks on minorities contained: BJP
New Delhi, Sep 24 (UNI) The BJP today maintained that the attacks on members of minority community in Karnataka had been contained and law set into motion against the attackers.
Answering questions about the minorities' safety, BJP spokesman Ravishankar Prasad said the situation was under total control and state Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa has called on the minority community leaders and promised to invoke anti-Goonda Act against the culprits.
Several arrests had been made and the situation was so far under control, he said.
Regarding the attacks on minorities in Orissa, Mr Prasad said the situation there was different as the problem in Orrisa arose because it was a reaction to the killings of a majority community religious leader and four others when they opposed to the ongoing conversion of tribal people.
There was also a conflict of interests as the converted tribals were also demanding reservation status, he said.
