Mumbai, Sep 24 (UNI) In a major breakthrough in the serial blasts across the country, the Mumbai Police have nailed five activists of terrorist outfit Indian Mujahideen.
The arrested members had an active involvement in most of the blasts which took place in the country since 2005, Police Commissioner Hassan Gafoor and Joint Commissioner of Police Rakesh Maria told newsmen.
Indian Mujahideen activists -- Afzal Usmani, Mohammad Sajid Shaikh, Mohammad Arif Shaikh, Mohammad Zakir Shaikh and Shaikh Mohammad Ansar hail from Azamgadh district in Uttar Pradesh and were apprehended from different parts of the city last night, they said.
The police also seized 10 kg ammonium nitrite, 15 detonators, one electronic circuit, a gun, two revolvers and 38 live cartridges from their possession.
Mr Gafoor said the quintet also had a hand in several bomb blasts, including the 7/11 Mumbai train blasts, and were believed to have got training in Pakistan for making bombs and explosives.
