Woman officer held for accepting bribe in Jammu

Jammu, Sep 23 (UNI) A lady officer was today caught red-handed by the Jammu and Kashmir Vigilance Organisation for accepting a bribe to settle the case in Government Provident Fund, official spokesman here said.

Acting on a complaint lodged by one Swarna Devi, the State Vigilance Organisation apprehended Assistant Complier of GP Fund Office posted in Gangyal on city outskirts for accepting a bribe from the complainant for settlement of GP Fund case of her deceased husband, spokesman added.

''A case was registered in Vigilance Police Station on a complaint of Swarna Devi, resident of Raipur, Satwari, Jammu,'' official spokesman said adding that the complainant has alleged that the GP Fund refund case of her husband was pending in the District Fund Office.

''The complainant visited number of times and requested Shama Bakshi, Assistant Complier to settle the GP Fund case of her husband but she did not oblige and demanded illegal gratification,'' spokesman maintained.

Meanwhile, SVO today laid a successful trap in the office complex of GP Fund office and caught red handed the accused woman Assistant Complier while accepting a bribe of Rs 5000 from the complainant in her office.

The accused was arrested while investigations were in progress, he said.
