Azamgarh/Lucknow, Sep 23 (UNI) Even as the Anti-Terrorist Sqaud (ATS) of the Uttar Pradesh and Delhi Police have intensified their operations in wake of the September 13 blasts in the national capital, one person was detained in Lucknow for interrogation.
The ATS has detained a person from the state capital after sustained operations since last night, a senior police official told UNI here this evening. ''The detention is in connection with the recent terrorist activities in the country,'' he said while refusing to divulge further in this regard.
Shahbaz, a Muslim youth, was nailed in Lucknow, following the Ahmedabad blasts on July 25.
The ATS and Delhi Police, meanwhile, conducted a number of raids at several places in east UP, especially Azamgarh and state capital.
Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Brij Lal told mediapersons here that a team from Delhi had raided some places in Azamgarh last night and picked up six peopls for interrogation.
''Later, the sextet were freed and Delhi Police returned'', he said.
Mr Lal also gave the names of the six people who were interrogated. They are Dr Javed Akhtar, Abdullah Akhtar,Saifullah Akhtar, Azim Ahmed, Faqir Ahmed and Arslan Khan.
The ADG also said the Delhi seluths also examined the bank account of one terrorist Sadab and found that after May 2007, he operated his account from the national capital only.
