"Put an end to conversions through appeasement": Seers
Bangalore, Sep 23 (UNI) Seers of six prominent mutts today urged the Karnataka Government to put an end to religious conversion through appeasement.
The Seers, led by Viveshwar Thirtha Swamiji of Pejawar Mutt, Udupi, who met Governor Rameshwar Thakur submitted a memorandum in this regard.
''Using appeasement for conversion will badly affect peace and social tranquillity. Any religious leader should be committed to his or her religion but should not interfere in other religion,'' the seer said after meeting the Governor.
He said conversions and re-conversions happening in society were not in the interest of any religion. The incidents of attack on places of worship was also not unacceptable. ''No one should take law into their hands. Peaceful coexistence of people, who respect each other's religion, is the need of the hour,'' he said.
