On Board Air Force One, Sep 23 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today hoped that the Indo-US civil nuclear deal would be finalised (during the current visit) but said it depended on the US Congress.
Talking to reporters on board Air Force One enroute to the US from Frankfurt where he had made an overnight stopover on way from New Delhi, Dr Singh said nothing was clear yet as the US Congress was pre-occupied with the financial meltdown in the country.
''Let's see. We are not clear yet. We know the US Congress is pre-occupied with the financial crisis,'' the Prime Minister said.
Asked whether he would be disappointed if the deal did not come through this time, Dr Singh said in politics he had learnt to deal with disappointments.
''We have not reached that stage yet. I am still hopeful that the deal will happen,'' he said.
