ONGC's Golden Flame torch rally reaches Agartala

Agartala, Spt 23 (UNI) To commemorate 50 years of first oil discovery by Independent India at Lunej Well No 1 in Cambay, Golden Flame Torch Rally of corporate giant Oil Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (ONGC) arrived here today.

The journey of the torch started from Cambay on September 5 and after traversing through west, south and eastern part of the country, touching all the ONGC work centres by road covering Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Assam had reached Agartala, ONGC officials said here.

This Golden Flame Torch would finally reach Dehradun, ONGC's Head Quarters via Silchar and other eastern towns of Northeast on October 2 next.

The Torch would be converted to an eternal flame near ONGC Golden Jubilee Museum, signifying India's crusade for energy security initiated by ONGC at Cambay 50 years ago.

Asset Manager, ONGC Tripura Asset Biplab Guha said ONGC was exploring reserves for over three decades in Tripura and introduced it in the World Hydrocarbon Map and it became the largest industrial corporate in the state, contributing significantly to the state exchequer in terms of sales tax and royalty, making it one of the biggest partners in progress of the state.
