Left parties asks govt to come out clear on Metro rail project
Hyderabad, Sep 23 (UNI) The Left parties today urged the Congress government in Andhra Pradesh to place facts before the people on the Rs 12,132 crore Metro Rail project awarded to a consortium headed by Maytas Infra.
Talking to reporters here, senior CPI(M) leader Y V Rao criticised the government for allegedly ''blackmailing'' Delhi Metro Rail Project Chairman and Managing Dirtector E Sreedharan by threatening to file a defamation suit against him if he did not offer an unconditonal apology.
Mr Rao demanded that the government convince the people by coming out with clearcut explanations on each and every point raised by Mr Sreedharan in his letter to the Planning Commission Vice-chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia.
CPI National Assistant General Secretary S Sudhakar Reddy Meanwhile, challenged the state government to file a defamation suit against him.
Talking to reporters in Nalgonda, he questioned the government for allowing real estate development in 269 acres by the developer.
The mega project is expected to be started in the next five months and completed in 2012.
