Mysore, Sep 23 (UNI) Over 65 legislators of Karnataka Assembly today attended a three-day orientation programme near here.

The programme, organised by Jagadaguru Sri Veerasimhasana Mahasamasthana Mutt and led by seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji, was aimed to bring peoples' representatives together to discuss various issues related to their duties and responsibilities.

Inaugurating the programme, founder, ISHA Foundation of Coimbatore, Sadguru Jaggi Vasudev, underlined the importance of qualities of the leadership.

He said the political leaders have to take all sections of the society into confidence. The situation now was disappointing, as quality of leadership was on the decline across political parties and had resulted in their inability to implement pro-people programmes effectively, he added.

Stating that the country had enough resources for the needy, he said the leaders should adopt spiritualism in their life so that their aims and goals could be achieved.

The former chief minister and Janata Dal(Secular) leader, H D Kumraswamy, who presided over the function, alleged that all political parties and its leaders had failed to perform and were in politics for their selfish interests.

Leader of the Opposition in Legislative Council V S Ugrappa, stressed the need for the legislators to understand the rules and regulations of the Assembly. They should know the basic social concepts and relevance of politicians in the present situation.

Dharmadikari of Shreekshetra Dharmastahla Veerendra Heggde, noted social worker Anna Hazare, Planning Commission Member Kirit S Parikh and Magasayasy award winner Prakash Amte, would speak on the occasion.
