Kerala HC gives four months' time to CBI to finish SNC Lavalin probe
Kochi, Sep 23 (UNI) The Kerala high court today granted four more months' time to the CBI to complete the investigation into the SNC Lavalin power scam case.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice H L Dattu and Justice A K Basheer directed the CBI to complete the investigation and file the final report within four months from today before the appropriate forum.
The bench orally observed after perusing the case diary that there is some progress in the investigation of the case and the CBI had made earnest efforts.
The CBI had earlier filed an application seeking six months' more time to complete the investigation.
The high court had in March this year directed the CBI to complete its investigations into the case within six months, which ended on September 18.
The case pertains to the alleged losses of Rs 374.50 crore incurred by the Kerala State Electricity Board in its 1995-96 award of a contract to Canadian company SNC Lavalin to revamp three hydel power projects in the state.
